I've played around with Blender a little bit and this came out. I call it "Die Pelzschlangen", it's german and stands for "The Fur-Snakes". I hope you enjoy it.

It's made with the Blender internal particlesystem. Each hair is a static particle. Normally the particle start from the skin of the snake and fly animated towards the ground. But with the static particle each position is drawn at the same time and so it looks like a line or hair in this case. Each snake has 120000 hairs. Excuse my poor english.

Blender steht Vollpreisprogrammen wie 3DS oder Maya kaum noch nach. Die Bedienung ist sicherlich schwierig wenn man nur Windowsprogramme gewöhnt ist aber dafür bekommt man regelmäßig Updates für die man nicht 2000,- Euro zahlen muss ;).

Allerdings sollte man YafRay als Renderer benutzen wenn man die selbe Bildqualität wie mit VRay, Brazil oder MentalRay erreichen will. Schau dir mal unten die beiden Bilder als Vergleich an. Das erste ist mit dem kostenlosen YafRay gerendert und das zweite mit dem 1200 $ teuren Brazil.
